I have had this vintage file drawer forever
gathering dust
- today is the day is gets a make-over because I found my sister's old piano music book stashed away in a cupboard, so I have decided to make a " Music Box " !!
Here is the beautiful vintage music book that I shall be destroying - Sorry !!
Sacrificed in the name of art....
Just cutting off any unattractive bits...
...page numbers...
...slapping on the white glue and covering it
...looks pretty rough hey ??
I decided to add this particular title because it was special to all of us in my family and my sister could play it well....me...not so much..!!
..covering this bit with tiny slivers was tricky but worth the effort
The drawer had been painted at one time so I decided to leave it and just shabby-chic it up a bit with som sand paper so that it didn't look too perfect.
Downloaded and printed a compatible font and vintaged it up by colouring around the edges in beige and brown and adding some age spots
I rubbed out the little air pockets that formed after I'd painted it all over in slightly diluted white glue
and here it is ...it is actually a lot more yellowed and vintage looking in real life and is finally being used to store orphaned computer leads
This is obviously quite tiny; walnut shell size !! I just frayed the sides of a small square of potato sack to make the straw effect. In hindsight I should have put a few eggs under her too...........ah well now I shall just have to make some more !!
This is the first little mouse - I was not that happy with the way i did the sheet/blanket so I made another one afterwards........
....and here is the second one which I prefer, a bit neater I think
...and here is my favourite a tiny owl; 1 cm high, perched in an acorn cap. Hopefully my daughter will keep them hanging on the tree for a few years to come.
